SDVMA Scholarship Foundation

The SDVMA Scholarship Foundation was established to promote the advancement of veterinary medicine through scholarships to students of veterinary medicine. Since its inception in 1997, thousands of dollars have been invested in education and future generations.

The foundation is managed by a seven‐person board of directors . Membership is open to anyone sharing in the goals of the foundation and non‐director members are encouraged to participate on one of the three standing committees: Finance, Publicity, and Awards. An annual meeting for the foundation is held during the SDVMA annual meeting.


SDVMA Foundation Veterinary College Scholarship Application

To be eligible for the SDVMA Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in an accredited College of Veterinary Medicine
  • Been a SOUTH DAKOTA RESIDENT at the time you entered Vet College
  • Show proof of completion of prior years of study by sending a copy of your transcript (official transcript not required)

Scholarship applications are due by November 30th. Notification of award will be by mail, and the funds will be dispersed directly to the student. If you have questions, contact the SDVMA at 605‐688‐6649 or [email protected].

Scholarship Foundation Application

Donations

The SDVMA Scholarship Foundation is recognized by the IRS as a tax-free charitable foundation. Approval of the tax-exempt status allows many forms of gifts and donations to be tax deductible for the donor. Foundation status also enables donors to contribute appreciated property (stocks, land, insurance policies) and utilize estate planning techniques mutually beneficial to the individual and the Foundation. A variety of donor gifts can be accepted.
