Tenure-track or Clinical-track Assistant or Associate Professor – Dairy Production Medicine

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University (ISU CVM) in Ames, Iowa is seeking applications for a full-time tenure or clinical track faculty appointment in dairy production medicine and extension in the Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine (VDPAM).
The successful candidate will join a department with over 50 food animal-focused faculty and 165 staff. Responsibilities will include a commitment of approximately 50-60% of your time to extension and outreach, 15-25% to teaching, 5-15% to professional practice, 5-15% time to applied clinical research, and 2-3% to institutional service.
The successful candidate is expected to be a national resource for addressing current production and health issues facing the Iowa and North American dairy industries. This person will be involved with the ISU extension dairy team in programming and group meetings and will also provide service and consultation to private dairies through the ISU Veterinary Field Services unit. The successful candidate will take full advantage of these opportunities for training professional and graduate students and residents.
Teaching will include participation in and course leadership in a rich selection of dairy-related courses in the VDPAM curriculum for professional students. There may also be opportunities to contribute to teaching in the Animal Science curriculum.
It is expected that the successful applicant will become engaged with collaborative applied clinical research in dairy production and medicine with other faculty at the ISU CVM and other colleges at ISU, at the National Animal Disease Center, with dairy production companies, and with private industry.

The candidate will demonstrate commitment to delivering exceptional client interactions, dedication to all levels of education, and contribute to the national prominence of the ISU CVM in food supply veterinary medicine.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
DVM or equivalent degree.
A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a veterinary practice focused on dairy production medicine.
State of Iowa Veterinary License on or before ﬁrst date of employment.
Eligible to receive DEA licensing.
Clinical Associate Professor:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a progressive, high-quality veterinary practice focused on dairy production medicine or a combination of private practice and post-graduate training.
Evidence of experience conducting research or other scholarly activity.
An established record of experience and scholarship.
Advanced degree in veterinary population medicine or another relevant field
Knowledge-base in ruminant nutrition and ruminant ration balancing
Additional years of experience in dairy production medicine
Diplomate status or board eligible through the American College of Veterinary
Practitioners in Dairy Practice or through the American College of Veterinary Preventative Medicine or similar specialties
Have and maintain a valid U.S. state driver’s license and the ability to be authorized to drive University vehicles.
