Veterinarians, veterinary technicians and livestock assistants are required to be licensed to practice in South Dakota.  The South Dakota Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners is responsible for the licensure and discipline of veterinarians, veterinary technicians and livestock assistants.  The Board also handles complaints against a licensee or complaints of unlicensed practice.

Veterinary corporations are required to register in South Dakota.  The Board also handles the registration and renewal of veterinary corporations.
